The IPSF Student Exchange Program (SEP) is a global program involving students from all corners of the world in the name of an international pharmacy experience. Approximately 50 associations in different countries throughout the world like GUC-SPSA participate in SEP and over 500 international exchanges take place every year. The program offers a unique educational and cultural experience in addition to the regular pharmaceutical knowledge. It also helps to broaden the students' understanding of pharmaceutical and social conditions in different countries.
Being recognized as a member organization at the International Pharmaceutical Students’ Federation (IPSF) last year after the world congress in Australia, GUC-SPSA became a participant in worldwide pharmacy student initiatives, one of which is the Student Exchange Program.

And guess what, the first exchange program hosted by GUC-SPSA was a real success!! During July and August 2007, 8 students from different countries including, USA, Croatia, Finland and Hungary chose to come to Egypt for an exchange; and also chose GUC-SPSA to be their host during the time they spent here. The program included a two-week internship as community pharmacist at one of the most prestigious chain of pharmacies in Egypt; Al –Ezabi Pharmacy. The accommodation was offered for free by the GUC in the dormitories at Al-Rehab City; a new community which was appealed to all of the participants.
A GUC SPSA Student Exchange Committee of three devoted SPSA members (Tamer Zahran, Mahitab Bahgat and Mohammed Naguib) accompanied the students in a very interesting program packed with visits to monuments in Cairo and other cities including Luxor, Aswan, Alexandria and Sharm El Shiekh that included cultural, recreational, sports and shopping activities.
GUC-SPSA would like to use the chance to thank Brigadier Awadallah and Brigadier Mohammed Abul-Einen and all the people responsible for the GUC dormitories for their effort to get our students the best they can offer.
As for GUCians interested in having their internship in another country, stay tuned, SPSA’s exchange program will start in March 2008. Only then you can apply. The length of placements is usually from one to three months, and possible hosts include community pharmacies, hospital pharmacies, wholesale companies, pharmaceutical industry, schools of pharmacy, government, and private health agencies. You have the chance to browse through the participating countries, the accommodation options and internship opportunities they offer so as to define your preferences. Usually, accommodation and board are offered by the host but you are responsible for your travel expenses and your insurance, which depends largely on the country you’re traveling to.
